Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 titles have been won on hard surfaces

A revitalized the Russian player won his first trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The Russian, a ex- world number one, has had a difficult year, winning just one win at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.

His unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serve in particular - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and ultimately parting ways with long-term coach Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily advanced in the past month - climaxing in a tightly fought competitive win over opponent Moutet.

This marks the player's first championship after the Rome competition and initial on a hard court from spring of the previous year.

The win also indicates the Russian has achieved twenty-one championships at twenty-one different events.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a competition with my two daughters at once, so to get a title is really nice," stated tennis professional Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the first title I achieved when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had failed in his past six finals, featuring in Halle earlier this year.

The player's defensive play style and recurring outbursts on court had led some to wonder if his ability to perform at the top level was over.

But the athlete has altered his approach in the past month, striving to approach the net and play aggressively, supported by an improved serve.

He came back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky Moutet, winning 4 of the concluding five games to take the lead.

The pair exchanged breaks in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his initial professional title, took control to create a final set.

He saved four initial chances in a close third set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to secure the win.

Fittingly, he clinched victory with a point at the net, with his opponent unable to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
